Getting More Performance Out of Yourself & Your Motorcycle
Red line underline of heading, getting More performance out of yourself and your motorcycle

Completing an advanced motorcycle course will mark the start of a whole new riding experience with your bike.

The objective of the training is to improve your knowledge, skill and overall level of safety when riding in a public road environment.

You will need to approach the rider’s course with an open mind and be prepared to experiment with what to you may regard as new methods of riding, and which may well break with your existing riding style.

When embarking upon learning journey such as this, it is important to remember that unless you are prepared to work hard, and to become fully receptive to what an advanced motorcycle riders training course has to offer, you will not realise the full benefit of its content.

No matter how good or how experienced you think you are at doing something, remember how those that are truly excellent in their performance are the ones who never lose sight of the fact that there is always more that can be learned. That could no more true than when it comes to riding a motorcycle on a public road.

It’s Not Just About the Bike

Becoming a good rider is more than just having the ability to handle the bike; it is about having strong self–discipline and sound knowledge, coupled with the desire to practice and to improve your standard of riding each and every time you use your bike.

People may boast how well they managed to get themselves out of a sticky situation by producing some trick or other at the crucial moment. However, if that person had any real skill for riding a motorcycle, and ability, they would not have found themselves in the difficult situation in the first place.

Most often the reason someone has got through an incident unscathed is through good fortune rather than anything else.

Your Are Right to Ask Questions

It will come as no surprise to us if some of the techniques we pass on to you are questioned. Indeed, some of the course content will most certainly fly in the face of all that you have previously believed to have been good and true.

Persevere with it, because when you come through the other side of each barrier you encounter you will realise there are huge benefits to be gained.

Dealing With Hazards on The Road

Out there on the road you will be confronted with many different types of hazards, but with a sound level of skill, awareness and knowledge gained from advanced motorcycle training you can considerably reduce any risk to yourself and to other road users.

Good observation, planning and anticipation that your bike course will give to you will ensure that you deal with each and every situation in a systematic and safe manner that leaves nothing to chance.

Motorcycle Road Collisions

The most feared aspect of motorcycling is the road collision, and as much as you can try and put this out of our mind, these incidents do happen and are very real. Statistically, most road collisions occur during:

  • Overtaking
  • Cornering
  • Negotiating junctions
  • Manoeuvring

As an advanced rider you will take into account the more diverse factors of motorcycling, these being the circumstances that a standard rider will not even have thought of.

There are changes in the type of road surface to consider, contaminated road surfaces and unpredictable weather conditions, as well as reading the body language exhibited by other motorists.

Being Aware of Your Own Limitations

You will be aware of how your physical and mental condition can be affected by the time of day, the weather, and how your ability to control your bike safely, and your ability to think clearly, especially during times of stress.

In addition to the ambient weather there are weather conditions within weather conditions, such as Micro Climates, where frost or wet patches may linger on the road when all around is otherwise clear. Examples of where this may occur are,

  • Areas of shadow.
  • Road surfaces over bridges, where different temperatures can be experienced.
  • Areas of poor drainage resulting in standing water.
  • Fog or mist hollows.
  • Crosswinds in exposed areas.

Bad weather is often used as a poor excuse for a road collision when in fact it is only a contributory factor to a poor level of riding ability, lack of observation and ineffective planning.

There is no Such Thing
as a Dangerous Road

You will hear of certain roads having a reputation for being dangerous. There has never yet been a road built to be dangerous. It only becomes dangerous when you place a vehicle upon it together with a driver (or a rider) who has poor ability⁄lack of skill.

With expert motorcycle rider training you will increase your road safety and your confidence in your own ability. You will also realise your limitations and to remain the boundaries set by them, and to enjoy your bike on the road.

You will find that we take a somewhat fresh and exciting approach to riding a motorcycle on the road, and do our best to dispel any negative perceptions some people may have concerning advanced rider training. One of the main priorities will be that you enjoy yourself and will learn a huge amount through having fun.
